Memoir: Being a Senior High School Student

Senior High School is a stage where we become mature and responsible teenagers. It is the stage wherein the students are trained and take a bigger challenge in life in the future. Senior High School don’t only train us but it also challenges us to be responsible and mature person because in SHS you need to be responsible in every action that you are going to do. Every action that you made has consequence/effect in the future.
When I started my senior high school as a grade 11 student, I was afraid and nervous because everything was new to me. The nervousness that I felt that day was different because we we’re the first batch of Senior High School. We are the first one to experience it.
New classroom, new classmates, new teachers, new subjects, new environment and everything was new. It took me a long time to adjust in grade 11 but as time goes by I found my ways on how to cope up and on how to be familiarized with everything. At first I thought grade 11 would be hard for me because it was different from junior high school especially the subjects I thought the subjects were more difficult than our subjects in junior high school but that was only my first impression. As time passed by I found some of the subjects easy. There were two subjects that I don’t really understand the General Mathematics and the UCSP (Understanding Culture, Society and Politics).
In that grade level also we joined the Aerobic Dance Competition in our subject PEH (Physical Education and Health). Before the competition we always practice after school or whenever we have time. Sometimes we were arguing because some of our classmates didn’t want to participate. Despite all the efforts that we put in that competition we didn’t win but still we considered ourselves winners. After the dance competition we also joined the Speech Choir but like the dance competition we did not win and again we considered ourselves winners in order our effort would not be wasted. This competition was different from the first one because I was the leader and it tested my leadership skills and my patience. They were so hard to please and some of them were not participating.
During our grade 11 we also made a short video in our ICT (Information Communication Technology) subject. We were all serious in filming the video because we don’t have time and we were not sure if we will finish our film. The main characters in our video were Noreen and Alkim.
One of the best experiences was when we were taking the subject Contemporary Arts, second semester of grade 11. What made it special was when we were shooting our short film and we needed to submit it as our final requirement. Because of this project I had a chance to be the director and video editor. I found new friends because of this. After shooting the short film, our group decided to have an outing.
I can say that grade 11 was not hard than what I thought because if it’s too hard I wouldn’t be here writing this memoir.
I am not nervous nor afraid because I already knew my classmates in Grade 12. Good thing they didn’t re-arranged the section of HUMSS.
Also in grade 12, we had our practical research 1 and practical research 2 at the same time. Making a research paper was really hard because you need to have a lot of patience in searching relevant informations about your topic.
During second semester we need to observe junior high school for our immersion. Me and my friends were assigned to the Filipino Department. Sir John Ocampo welcomed us in their department and during our immersion I met new friends, their names are Rhea and Jaychelle.
